Psychological Diagnostics

There is a reason that I placed this category first. If you took an SSRI, you likely did so for a mood disorder. Admit that to yourself. It took me years to admit that. Don’t do what I did… Save yourself the time. Life is too short.

If you have anxiety, OCD, depression etc…

ADMIT IT TO YOURSELF.

Admit that these disorders on their own wreck HAVOC on sexual functioning. This thought is terrifying. You don’t want to think it.

Remember this, you never asked for mental illness, nor is it something you can just turn off. If it were easy, you would have never taken an SSRI, and you wouldn’t be here. People have lived perfectly happy and productive lives without sex. It might not be fair, but people have good lives with much worse than what we have. The fact that you are here today reading this is proof that this is causing you psychological stress.

People come on my site and say:

“I don’t have anxiety, or stress, or depression, or OCD.”

Bullshit.

If you’re stress-free and happy, why are you searching for help? This is neither a fun or stress-free topic. The fact that you are here means that you are psychologically distressed over your loss, and that needs to be addressed even if you no longer feel clinically anxious or depressed.

I think of breaking this up into 2 categories – Physical and Mental.

I don’t agree with all the teachings of the people mentioned below, but I’d be stupid to re-invent the wheel.. My time is not unlimited. I’d die before I could re-write it all again myself.

Physical Health

  • The key here is cutting out unhealthy foods and doing exercises that will make you feel good. Your mental health should improve with this. This is a complex topic. It can include fasting or other forms of exercise like stretching or yoga. There is a ex-PFS patient who goes by the name of “cdnuts“. His protocol has cured a lot of people with PFS. What I like about it is what it focuses a lot on diet, fasting, and exercise. For now, stay away from the other aspects of his site (trust me, I’ll get to that elsewhere).

Diet

Exercise

Sleep

Calming/Meditation

Fasting

(I’ve written more about meditation as well)

Mental Health

  • I really can’t advocate for someone to go to (this community is world-wide), but it’s an important choice – Do your research beforehand on who is well respected in your area. I stress THERAPY/Psychologists over Psychiatrists. Psychiatrists are going to give you more meds, while a therapist (with a degree and good reviews/ background) will help you actually work through the issues in your life. You MAY need meds, and telling you to go off them is not my job. If you need meds to function, trust your doctor (Review: Disclaimer). However, as I’ve said above: Generally, trust no one. Trusting in an SSRI may have ended up getting you here. Be careful above all, and THINK. FOR. YOUR. SELF. (And just get over any internal problem/insecurities you have with going to therapy – again, I wasted a lot of time at this step). It can really help.
